The Story of the Trophée Chopard

Every year since 2001, the Trophée Chopard rewards the talent of a young actor and actress. This year, the distinction honoured Adèle Exarchopoulos and Logan Lerman.

An official partner of the Cannes Film Festival since 1998, Chopard heightened its commitment to ‘the seventh art’ in 2001 by creating an award intended for the up-and-coming generation of the film industry. Yesterday night, Adèle Exarchopoulos and Logan Lerman received their prizes from Australian actress Cate Blanchett, winner of the 2014 Best Actress Academy Award. The ceremony held in the Hotel Martinez was presented by TV host and fashion journalist Louise Roe and attended by some of the greatest names in cinema.

This year, the honourees were chosen by a jury of professionals composed of actor Colin Firth, producer Harvey Weinstein, director Atom Egoyan, director and producer Lee Daniels, Steve Gaydos, Executive Editor of Variety magazine, and Caroline Scheufele, co-president of Chopard. The jury’s deliberations resulted in the decision to single out French actress Adèle Exarchopoulos, who gave a break-out performance in La Vie d’Adèle by Abdellatif Kechiche – winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2013 – and is currently starring in Qui vive by Marianne Tardieu; along with American actor Logan Lerman, hero of the fantasy film franchise Percy Jackson and one of the lead actors in Darren Aronofsky’s new blockbuster, Noah.

Livia Firth wearing the newest 'Green Carpet' earrings

Livia Firth is on a mission to revolutionize fashion. The creative director of sustainable brand consultancy Eco Age and creator of the Green Carpet Challenge, there’s no doubt that Livia Firth is sustainable fashion’s most stylish and impassioned pioneer. We quizzed Livia Firth on her collaboration with Chopard on Fairmined jewellery, working with award-winning actors and what sustainable luxury means today.
"This is when I met Caroline Scheufele : the visionary co-president and artistic director of Chopard. The fact that Caroline has embraced The Journey to Sustainable Luxury has allowed Chopard to directly impact on the lives of the real people in artisanal mining communities across South America. Chopard’s partnership with Eco-Age and the Green Carpet Challenge shows that luxury brands can lead the way for others to follow and that embracing a socially responsible and sustainable path can both enhance and add value.
I have always been inspired by Caroline’s beautifully designed jewellery – who wouldn’t – but, when I met her two years ago, I was even more inspired by her and her commitment to start The Journey. It won’t be an easy one, but to quote Caroline “Rome was not built in one day”. The Scheufele family knows that being a profitable business and practicing good stewardship of environmental and social justice is not only possible but essential."
